נשיא ארצות הברית, דונלד טראמפ, כתב לפני זמן קצר (שני) ברשת החברתית Truth כי "איראן - מדינה כושלת - רוצה להגיע להסכם, ורוצה בכך במהירות ובלהיטות רבה". הוא הבהיר כי "אני אחליט אם ארה"ב תבחר להיכנס למהלך - אפשרות שאנו פתוחים לה".
